
Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Heat Advisory that will be in effect from 11:00 this morning until 9:00a.m. Wednesday.
Here in the valley forecasters expect that we will see high temperatures ranging from 95 to 105 degrees, with warmest lows between 65 and 72 degrees.
There is a widespread moderate to locally major HeatRisk in Lassen and eastern Plumas and Sierra counties, along with Surprise Valley.
In Nevada, Northern California Washoe County, Western Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake, Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area, and Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties.
Heat-related illnesses will be more likely, especially for those spending extended periods outdoors, in poorly cooled indoor spaces, or who are sensitive to heat.
The hottest conditions are expected Tuesday afternoon in lower valleys and basins. In the upper elevations, above 4,500 ft in Lassen and along foothill slopes outside the lower valleys cooler conditions will prevail.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned location, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and check on relatives, neighbors, and pets. Limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours.
