Another blast of winter is headed our way this morning and forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Winter Storm Warning for areas of northeastern California above 7,000 feet, beginning at 10:00a.m., today and lasting until 10:00p.m., Saturday.
The warning covers Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties.
Heavy snow, with accumulations between 1 to 2 feet are expected above 7,000 feet, with 2 to 6 inches here in the valley. Ridge winds will be gusting as high as 75mph.
Travel could be very difficult, to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
