Weather Bulletin: Quick Storm To Bring Gusty Winds, Valley Rain and Mountain Snow

Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Winter Weather Advisory warning area residents to expect a quick, but powerful, winter storm to hit this morning.

The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect until 10:00 tonight warning that snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches above 5,000 feet, with locally higher amounts to 12 inches on higher mountain peaks west of Highway 395 today.

Ridge winds will be gusting up to 70mph. Southwest winds of 15 to 30mph with gusts to 45mph are possible across Lassen, eastern Plumasand eastern Sierra counties.

Plan on slippery road conditions, especially across Yuba Pass and near Lassen National Park and Bogard. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and strong cross winds will make travel difficult along Highway 70 and Highway 395, especially for high profile vehicles.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
