Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Red Flag Warning, in effect from 2:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. today.
Winds will be out of the west at 15 to 25mph with gusts to 35mph and the humidity will drop to between 7 and 15 percent for 3 to 8 hours.
The combination of gusty winds and dry fuels can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.
Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires.
