Weather Bulletin: Wind Advisory in Effect for Wednesday

Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Wind Advisory in effect from 1:00a.m. until 10:00p.m. Wednesday.

Here in the Honey Lake Valley we can expect southwest winds up to 35mph with gusts around 50mph. Wind prone locations along US-395 from Susanville south to the Nevada state line may see gusts up to 60mph.

The Wind Advisory applies to Lassen, eastern Plumas, northern Washoe and eastern Sierra counties along with Surprise Valley, near the Oregon border.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Now is the time to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, holiday decorations, and trash cans before winds increase which could blow these items away. The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time by making sure you have extra food and water on hand, flashlights with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a power outage.
