Weather Bulletin: Winter Storm Watch in Effect for Wednesday Night Through Thursday

Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Late Wednesday night through Late Thursday night above 5,500 feet, west of Highway 395.

Heavy snow, with accumulations of 1 to 4 inches, and up to
8 inches along the highest peaks west of US Highway 395. Wind gusts will exceed 70mph on ridges.

The Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties above 5,500 feet and west of US Highway 395 from late Wednesday night through late Thursday night.

Travel could be difficult, especially across mountain passes such as Fredonyer and northwest of Bogard. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Uncertainty in the storm track and snow levels mean amounts could be higher, with a 25 percent probability of up to 6 inches along Highway 44 and Highway 36, and up to
18 inches along the highest peaks.
