Weather Bulletin: Winter Storm Watch in Effect Sunday Evening Through Monday

Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued an Urgent Winter Weather Message detailing the expected impacts of a winter storm set to hit our area Sunday evening.

The Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties.

Heavy snow is expected above 5,500 feet and in the mountains west of U.S. Highway 395. Snow accumulations up to 18 inches are possible at the highest elevations.

Here in the valley we can expect a mix of rain and snow beginning Sunday night.

Ridge winds gusting as high as 60mph.

Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
