Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued another freezing fog advisory this afternoon warning area residents to expect a night of dense, freezing fog and dangerous driving conditions with slick roads and limited visibility.
The Freezing Fog Advisory goes into effect at 8:00 this evening and will last until 11:00a.m. Thursday, when the fog should have once again burned off.
Once again tonight you can expect visibility of one-quarter-mile or less in freezing fog, in Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties. In Nevada, Northern Washoe County and Western Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake will all see the foggy conditions from 8:00p.m. until tomorrow morning.
Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous, especially along Highway 447 from Wadsworth to Gerlach including Pyramid Lake, Highway 395 through the Honey Lake Valley from the CA-NV state line to Susanville, Highways 36 and 44 around Susanville, and I-80 near Fernley.
Roads may also be slick and localized areas of freezing fog may still persist through Thursday evening. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
