Weather Forecast Forces Change of Plans for Saturday’s Walk-A-Mile Event

Walk A Mile walkers and runners gather at the starting line for the 2017 event

With a significantly wet and windy spring storm forecast to bring heavy rain to Susanville Friday and Saturday Lassen Family Services has been forced to make some changes to its plan for the 5th Annual ‘Walk a Mile in Their Shoes’ event, being held this Saturday morning.

Organizers have been forced to cancel the portion of the event that would have been held in Memorial Park. This includes booths and food vendors.

The good news is that opening ceremonies, the Mayor’s proclamation, the Empathy in Education Award and the mile-long walk itself will still be held, rain or shine.

The brief ceremony will be held on the lawn in front of Roop’s Fort on Weatherlow Street. After the official welcome and the awards participants will leave Roop’s Fort, walk north on Weatherlow, east on North Street where they will turn right onto Grand Avenue. Walkers will then come back up Main Street and turn on Weatherlow to return to Roop’s Fort.

If you have questions about the event contact Victoria at 257-5459.
