Hi everybody, here is a quick update on the Evans fire which has been pumping smoke into the Honey Lake Valley for most of the day.
According to the U.S. Forest Service’s 4:30p.m. fire update the lightning sparked Evans fire, which has burned more than 700 acres of grass and brush near Highway 395 and the Nevada border, is at only 20% of containment this evening with fire officials predicting full containment by Thursday night.
The fire is burning in a rugged location around 3 miles west of Highway 395 and no structures have been threatened.
Resources working the fire this evening include 2 helicopters, 1 water tender, 1 dozer, 2 hand crews, 4 engines and more than 120 firefighters on the ground.
Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service, NDF, BLM, and Truckee Meadows Fire Department responded to the fire at around 5:45p.m. Tuesday night.
