The California Highway Patrol reports that a Westwood man was killed Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle accident near the Hamilton Branch over-crossing.
According to a press release from CHP Officer Sam Glucklich the 54 year-old driver of a Honda Civic had just passed a vehicle in excess of the 55 Mile per hour speed limit and lost control trying to negotiate a curve.
The Civic spun, crossed the roadway, travelled up the embankment where it collided with a large rock and then overturned ejecting the driver.
The Highway Patrol found that the driver was not wearing his seat belt and died from injuries sustained in the collision.The name of the driver will be released after notification of next of kin.
