Westwood Resident Arrested After Domestic Disturbance

A domestic altercation, and subsequent scuffle with law enforcement officers, sent a Westwood resident to the Lassen County Jail Sunday, charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

According to Sergeant Kevin Jones of the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, the agency received the report of a domestic disturbance in progress on the 600 block of Cedar Street in Westwood. A deputy from the Sheriff’s Office and officers of the California Highway Patrol from the Chester area responded to assist.

When they arrived on-scene law enforcement personnel located 21 year-old Westwood resident Michael Wilson, who had allegedly engaged in a domestic altercation with a female victim prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

Investigation by the Sheriff’s department showed Wilson had struck an unidentified female and he was eventually arrested at the scene for misdemeanor domestic battery.

“Upon being told of the arrest,” explains Sergeant Jones, “Wilson physically resisted personnel at the scene. In the process of resisting arrest, a Taser device was used in order to subdue him.”

Wilson was eventually controlled, transported and booked into the Lassen County Jail.

The California Highway Patrol Officers who assisted in the arrest sustained minor injuries and were treated and released at Banner Lassen Hospital.
