Lassen Rally Results In Punishment
October 17, 1939

Because of an “unsponsored” pregame football rally, the Susanville-Fallon high school tilt scheduled for Saturday was called off by local authorities, who are preparing an investigation of the student affair.

Unsponsored rallies were banned by the local board of school trustees and the California Interscholastic Federation several years ago when several students were killed in an auto accident after the pre-game rally.

Lassen Union high school’s student body council has agreed not to stage any rally before the Fallon game, but football enthusiasm and interest in the traditional contest was too strong for several Lassen rooters to remain subdued. They burst forth Friday night with a bonfire rally and a serpentine dance.
