Lassen County, grab your pitchforks and torches, because this week’s victim…er…featured local is none other than Michell Williams, Dean of Instruction at our beloved Lassen College. Now, I know what you’re thinking – “But she’s my boss! I can’t make fun of her!” Fear not, dear readers, for I shall roast her with the utmost respect and admiration.
After all, she’s not just any ordinary dean; she’s a dean with a heart of gold and a wicked sense of humor. That much I am learning as my time at the college grows.
In just a couple of conversations with Michell you will learn that she has a very impressive background in agriculture. Michell can talk crops and livestock like nobody’s business, and she’s even been known to sweet-talk a few stubborn cows into giving up their milkshakes.
Just today I learned about her previous life working for the USDA.
Perhaps one of my favorite things about my boss is that you can’t let her down-to-earth demeanor fool you; this woman is incredibly smart. It’s no wonder she is so good at her job, because she knows so much about so many random things.
I often find myself just nodding along, even though I’m stuck comprehending only 12 percent of what she said. All this and I still enjoy our conversations because she is just so delightful.
As my boss, Michell is the epitome of leadership. Her door is always open, unless she’s busy plotting world domination… or grading papers, whichever comes first. But what truly sets Michell apart is her ability to make even the most mundane tasks seem like a rollicking adventure.
In all seriousness, though, Michell Williams is a true asset to our community. Her dedication to education, her unwavering support for the students and staff at the college as well , and her infectious spirit make Lassen College a better place. Not just Lassen a better place, but really our whole community.
She is of course, one of the reasons I love where we live.
