Why We Love This Place Wednesday: Amy Holley

The subject of this week’s article is proof that no matter what type of industry you work in, you can be a hero. You can make big changes, do big things, and lead others, no matter where you are.

One of my all-time favorite people who year after year, continues to act in a capacity that “saves the day” is my wonderful friend, Amy Holley, the Manager of our local Walmart.

Amy and her store do so much for our community, I truly think they get overlooked because they are a large chain. However, the local people that live here are truly champions for our little community.  None more so than Amy.

I met Amy through our husbands and the baseball world (go figure), several years ago, when she moved here. I discovered she took the job to manage our local store, and naturally, through my work at the police department I had several work-related encounters with Amy.

As a store manager, she was always very organized and willing to do whatever was necessary in order to support law enforcement’s endeavors to deter shoplifting. However, my true love for Ms. Amy stemmed from all that she did and wanted to do  outside of simply operating and running the store.

Every. Single. Event. I have done, Amy has been relentless about wanting to help. Whether it be by donating her time, or helping me acquire funds (or donations) through corporate for many of the fundraisers and events that I do.

In fact, if you have not had the pleasure of meeting in person and have not gleaned this through my articles – I am sort of this little well-organized ball of chaos. And Amy quickly discovered this and is so patient with me.

She kindly sends cute smiley face reminders, to call her back, to give her the information that she needs to help me. Yes, the woman works hard just so that she can help other people.

From  fishing derbies, toy drives, back to school shopping and beyond, Amy not only participates willingly she goes out of her way to make sure that she and her store (and her wonderful co-workers) are giving back.

I don’t think I have met someone who is so persistent on helping out.  So, if you have never met the wonderful Amy Holley, I would implore you to seek her out the next time you are shopping at Walmart.

You will recognize her from her sweet warm smile, and just the kindness that she exudes, and you too will see why this little angel baby is one of the reasons I love where we live.
