Those who live in Westwood know that the Blue Ox was always a goldmine. But Uptown Susanville leveling up with its own location? A big win for everyone!
If you haven’t been there yet, this place isn’t just another coffee shop.
Let me tell you what I discovered this Monday as I rolled in for my weekly protein smoothie. First off, the Blue Ox is in part: a handcrafted bakery, an ice cream stop (that makes kids bolt for the case), a legit sandwich shop, a breakfast spot, a place to find unique gifts, as well as place where you can buy charcuterie that actually feels like someone took the time to get it right.
It’s hometown quality that makes you want to keep going back.
Walking in, you’re welcomed by good energy and the quiet confidence of a place that knows what it does and does it right. On my first visit, I was just hunting down a coffee after a long Monday and was impressed with my drink.
I had no idea what else they had going on, until my most recent visit and Lusanne noticed.
She ended up showing me their bread setup, ovens running and fresh loaves lined up like a team ready for the big game. You can tell right away they take pride in even the smallest details.
And then there’s the bakery… guys the BAKERY! Their cookies are flat-out dangerous, delicious brownies, and bread that could turn a quick stop into Saturday brunch plans.
But what stands out most is the way Blue Ox brings people together. While I was there I saw families stopping for treats, coworkers meeting before the day kicks off, and folks pausing their routine because the vibe just feels good. It’s just honest food and a neighborly welcome every time.
In a town that runs on real connections, Blue Ox is quickly claiming its spot as a community go-to.
Drop by for the smoothie, stay for the pastry, and on the way out, don’t be surprised if you find yourself making new plans just to come back and try their deluxe chocolates.
Places like this are why we love calling Susanville home. Blue Ox isn’t just worth your visit, it’s worth making part of your week, and is for sure one of the reasons I love where we live.
