Resources from several agencies have responded and are working a vegetation fire burning on the mountainside just south of Milford. The fire is very visible from Highway 395.

First crews in the area report that the fire is small, perhaps a single-tree, burning mid-slope away from any structures.

According to Lassen OES Chief Eric Ewing the area also received some light rain from the storm cell that passed earlier.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but is most likely caused by a series of lightning strikes that swept the ridge around 1:15 this afternoon.

This is continuous coverage of a live news event. This post will be updated as new information becomes available.
