FINAL Update: 4:28p.m. According to Lassen OES Cheif Eric Ewing the progress of the fire was halted at 3.5 acres and although the fire burned around structures none were damaged.
Ewing also encouraged residents to inspect and secure all burns piles.

Updated 3:57p.m. Air tankers and other resources are being released from the incident as crews have reportedly made good progress on the Silent fire.

3:18p.m. Resources that had been assigned to the Honey Girl Lane fire are now being diverted back to the Silent Fire. The Honey Girl Lane fire appears to have been a false alarm prompted by blowing dust and smoke.

3:04p.m. A new fire has been reported on Honey Girl Lane near Janesville. Resources are now being sent towards this fire as well.
Airtankers and helicopters are on order and should arrive over the fire shortly.

2:52p.m. According to scanner traffic the fire has burned 3 to 5 acres in brush and some timber. The rate of spread is moderate to high and the gusty winds are pushing the fire towards Highway 395. Â

2:38p.m. Â Fire crews are responding to a vegetation fire in Janesville. The fire is reportedly on Whispering Pines Drive.
A large column of smoke is visible from around the valley.
Winds in the area are predicted to be gusting to near 50 mph this afternoon.
We’ll have more information and a more accurate location as information becomes available.
