Firefighters are battling a vegetation fire burning in Dixie Valley, 15 miles southwest of the town of Bieber, this evening according to Lassen County OES Chief Eric Ewing.
The fire which began around 5:30 this evening is burning in grass and brush with what Ewing characterized as a ‘moderate rate of spread’ and 0% containment.
As of 7:40 this evening the blaze had consumed around 50 acres and although there are no immediate threats to structures, there are scattered ranches in the area.
Modoc County
Crews in Modoc County are fighting a vegetation fire on Splawn Mountain, 12 miles NE of Bieber, which started at around 4:40 Thursday afternoon.
As of Ewing’s update at 7:40 the fire had burned 22 acres of grass and brush, with a moderate rate of spread. The primary threat with this fire is to commercial timber and scattered ranches.
