Cal-FIRE’s Lassen Modoc Unit will be conducting understory burn operations, today through June, in coordination with Sierra Pacific Industries, Peninsula Faire and the Hamilton Branch Fire Department near the community of Hamilton Branch.
According to the agency, the project will continue through June when conditions are favorable for low-intensity understory burn.
Smoke will be visible and there is no need to report it.
The purpose of the project is to reduce the possibility of a fire burning into the residential areas of Hamilton Branch, Peninsula and Bailey Creek, as well as to strengthen necessary evacuation routes.
