Lassen County’s 150th birthday is April 1st and a special observance ceremony will be held at the historic courthouse on Lassen Street to celebrate the sesquicentennial milestone with a special lunch to follow at Lassen Ale Works.
The birthday party kicks off a summer of events related to the county’s anniversary; in May the county will celebrate the first county election as part of 3rd grade history day and re-enact the swearing in of the first county officers.
In June the county will celebrate the anniversary of the very first Board of Supervisors meeting and in September there will be an anniversary celebration on the lawn in front of Roop’s Fort.
The ceremony will begin at 12:30 Tuesday with remarks on the courthouse lawn and will then move to a celebratory cake cutting at the Ale Works.
