Zubillaga and Atkinson Tied for LHS Board Seat: 342 Ballots Left to Count

The staff at the Lassen County Clerk-Recorder’s Office is hard at work this weekend processing the few remaining ballots from Tuesday’s election.

Those uncounted votes will make a difference in the high school board race. Currently candidates Jeff Atkinson and Michelle Zubillaga are tied with 2,948 votes each. 

They are vying for the second seat on the board with top vote-getter Ken Theobald currently holding 3,206 votes.

According to Lassen County Clerk-Recorder Julie Bustamante there are 240 provisionals remaining to be verified; 25 damaged ballots; and 77 ballots ready to be processed; for a total of 342 ballots remaining in Lassen County.

The staff will be working all weekend to complete the process.
