Almanor Ranger District Seeking Summer Campground Hosts

The Almanor Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest announced today they are seeking volunteer campground hosts for several locations. The host season can begin as early as April and may last into October. Host duties include welcoming visitors, sharing news and information about recreational opportunities in the area, and light campground maintenance.

Hosts are needed for Almanor North, Almanor South, Domingo Springs, Elam, and Battle Creek Campgrounds, all located near Chester, California.

“If you are enthusiastic about camping and truly enjoy people, this may be a great summer opportunity for you,” said Stacy Kronner, recreation officer for the Almanor Ranger District.

“Being a host offers a great way to meet new people, share your knowledge, learn something new, and work in the beautiful Lassen National Forest.”

All hosts receive a free campsite, propane or electricity and other amenities depending on the campground selected. Hosts must provide their own self-contained RV or trailer and personal vehicle.

Additionally, while the Hat Creek Ranger District is currently fully staffed with hosts, they will accept applications for volunteers interested in being on a waitlist, in case of an unanticipated vacancy.

If you are interested in becoming a Forest Service campground host and would like to know more about this program, please contact one of the two people below:
