‘Follow your dreams’ was the subject Thursday as the folks from the Lassen County Office of Education held their annual Literature Jamboree on the campus of Diamond View School. The seven-hour event gave students a chance to learn about a wide range of topics including graphic design, creative writing, book research, music, cartooning, poetry and even a workshop on the beautiful art of calligraphy.

The program included accomplished children’s storytellers, authors and illustrators Ray Friesen, Adam Sidwell and Kirk Waller along with a wealth of talented local artists and writers.

Friesen, cartoonist and graphic novelist, captured the attention of students and teachers alike. At the age of 20 he has been professionally cartooning for seven years, contributing artwork to local papers and national publications, as well as several online sites.
