Banner Lassen Gets New Hospitalist

Banner Lassen has announced that Michael Azarkh, MD is joining the medical center’s hospitalists group.  He comes to Lassen County from Redondo Beach, California and is a Russian Native who speaks fluent Russian.

Azarkh graduated from Medical School in South Australia, and has worked in several different hospitals through-out Southern California.

Azarkh joins Banner Lassen’s other hospitalist Fuad Kuliyev. Hospitalists are Physicians who prefer to work with patients who are in the hospital instead of working in clinics or private practice. Banner Lassen Medical Center has a hospitalist on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

At this point you may be asking yourself just what a ‘hospitalist’ is – Banner’s Public Relations Specialist Melissa Blosser explains, “A hospitalist provides a high level of one-on-one care during a hospital stay and is easily accessible to the hospital staff, patient and family members.”

Hospitalists provide a personal link between the patient and the doctor by ensuring the primary care doctor is informed and involved in the patient’s hospital treatment.

“At Banner Lassen Medical Center, we believe that having a hospitalist on duty provides a focused experience in caring for patients in the hospital as well as improving the continuity of care,” said Cathy Harshbarger, Banner Lassen’s Chief Nursing Officer. “We are very excited to have Dr. Azarkh here at Banner Lassen.”

The hospitalist can pay close attention to any change in the patient’s condition and take care of it right away; the hospitalist is in the hospital the majority of the day and night, and a hospitalist is available to the patients and their families at all times.
