Bicycle Collides with Vehicle on Uptown Street

A Susanville 14 year-old was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center Sunday by SEMSA for evaluation after the bicycle he was riding struck a vehicle at the intersection of Main and North Roop streets in uptown Susanville.

According to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood, officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to the intersection of Main Street and North Roop Street about 6:35p.m. after the report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist.

When officers arrived they found a Chevrolet Suburban with no apparent damage parked southbound in the roadway on North Roop. The involved bicycle was located leaning against a bench on the east side of the street.

“Through the course of the investigation,’ explains Lieutenant Wood, “it was determined that the driver of the Suburban, identified as Susanville resident Judy Wolfe, was stopped on North Roop Street waiting to turn onto Main Street when her vehicle was struck by the juvenile, who was riding a bicycle against the designated flow of traffic.”

“The Susanville Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind bicyclist to use caution when riding their bicycles.”
