Blue Ox Coffee in Westwood is a unique new hangout owned by Chris and Cecilia Allin that serves hot, iced and blended drinks along with a variety of homemade baked goods. The new business is not just a place to get a quick coffee, it also provides a friendly space for the community to meet seven days a week.
“As a high school teacher at Westwood High,” explains Cecilia Allin, “I realized the students did not have a great space to hangout and study after school throughout the year. My husband and I decided we really wanted to create a fun and unique space, and with the help of the high school students designed the coffee shop.”
Allin, who is excited to bring something new to Westwood and surrounding communities, said the coffee shop will sell homemade baked goods including bagels, bagel sandwiches, muffins, cinnamon rolls and more.
And, of course, world class coffee.
“We use four roasters, and they all support a different cause which is important to us,” said Allin. “Two of our roasters, J.P. McWalsh and Rusty Roof, are local. Hope Coffee supports mission work in Honduras and Mexico and Black Rifle coffee is a veteran-owned company which supports vets, firefighters and police officers.”
Blue Ox Coffee also offers a 10% discount to all military, law enforcement, firefighters and first responders.
