CHP Traffic Stop Near Hallelujah Junction Nets 29 Pounds of Processed Marijuana

A Reno man was arrested Monday night on Highway 395 near Hallelujah Junction after a CHP officer pulled him over for driving erratically and located a large quantity of marijuana and cash in the car.

According to details released by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol, 22-year old Anthony Glen Verhaest was driving a 2004 Subaru Impreza around 9:00p.m. on January 16th, “weaving and driving slowly” just north of the SR-70 junction.

“Upon contact with the driver, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted.”

The vehicle was found to contain approximately 29 pounds of processed marijuana and $4,147 in cash.

Verhaest was arrested and booked on charges.
