Crews Plan Hazard Tree Removal Along Bizz Johnson Trail

In an effort to ensure the safety of trail users, Bureau of Land Management crews have announced their plans to remove hazard trees along two sections of the Bizz Johnson Trail beginning Thursday. The removal operations are scheduled to take place on two days, May 18th and 19th, and will not result in any trail closures.

Crew members may temporarily block areas for safety while work is underway.

Crews will be working along the trail just west of the Devil’s Corral trestle, about seven miles west of Susanville, and in the Hobo Camp Day Use Area on the west edge of Susanville.

Work will continue on a more limited basis over the next several weeks until all the hazard trees have been removed.

The trees are dying or dead from drought impacts, insect infestation and other factors.
