Feeling cooped-up in your house or office? Looking for a fun way to beat the winter doldrums? Join Lassen Land and Trails Trust this Saturday, January 24th, and treat that cabin fever with a fun trip to the outdoors!
Two options for outdoor fun!
Start the day out with an adventurous cross-country ski outing to Butte Lake or a short snowshoe hike from the depot on Richmond Road.
The Butte Lake excursion is for the tried and true cross-country skier, a 13-mile round trip led by Phil Finkel. Please pre-register by calling (530) 257-3252, dress appropriately and bring water, snacks and lunch. Participants will meet at the historic Susanville railroad depot at 8:30 a.m. No snow means cancellation.
If that’s more than you bargained for, then maybe a short snowshoe hike will fit the bill. The snowshoe hike will depart from the historic Susanville railroad depot at 1:00 p.m. Lassen Land and Trails Trust has snowshoes to lend. Please pre-register by calling (530) 257-3252, dress appropriately and bring water and snack. If there’s no snow, there will be a hike!
Everyone is welcome at the Historic Susanville Railroad Depot at 5:00 p.m. for an array of hot, homemade soups, breads and cookies. Just want to eat out? Well, then simply come to the depot for dinner!
The ski trip and snow shoe hike are free registration. The soup dinner is for a $10 donation per person and a $5 donation for children 12 and under. While filling up on great soups, enjoy a no-host bar.
Lassen Land and Trails Trust is a non-profit member supported organization that actively works to conserve significant natural areas and working landscapes and to promote and enhance a system of leading public trails in northeastern California — where the Sierra Nevada, Cascade, Modoc Plateau and the Great Basin converge, a unique region rich in agricultural heritage, wildlife and scenic vistas.
