Tuesday, August 1
Lassen Lit Rocks holds free adult reading classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday’s classes are held at the Lassen Library and Thursday’s classes are held at Shaffer School. For more information please call the library at 530-257-7471.

Tuesday, August 1
National Night Out at Susanville Memorial Park from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. There will be vehicle displays, live music from that awesome band Forgery, neighborhood watch start-up info, child ID safety kits, food vendors and a flash mob dance.

Wednesday, August 2

Knights of Columbus Wednesday Night Bingo. 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., dinner, 6:30 pm early bird bingo, 7:00 p.m., regular bingo games. Eagle Lake Nature Program at Merrill Campground Amphitheater: Boat Patrol and CalFire Playing it safe at the lake and in the forest! Meet and learn from the Eagle Lake Boat Patrol Officers and CalFire—and maybe Smokey the Bear at the Merrill Campground Amphitheater from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. All are welcome and the program is free.

Westwood Bingo is every Thursday night at 125 Birch St., in Westwood. $10 per ten pack of cards, $1 Quickie games and $1 Early Bird Game.

Lassen Family Services Parenting Group 9:30 – 10:30 pm at Lassen Family Services, 1306 Riverside Dr. Parenting Group classes are designed to help reduce chaos and power struggles within families. Learn an approach to parenting that is both simple and effective. All classes are free but space is limited. Please contact Heather at 530-257-4599 for more information.

Doyle Days and World-Famous Lizard Races. All day fun starting with a 5K at 7:30 a.m., parade at 10:00 a.m., World Famous Lizard Races at Noon, and vendors and activities all day, ending with a street dance from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m., featuring the live band ‘Studded Jules’. Lassen Sportsmen’s Club, City of Susanville, County of Lassen and SIR Tribal Business Council have rescheduled the 28th Annual Junior Fishing Derby!  This event is 5:00 – 3:00 p.m. Check-in and register at Memorial Park 5:00 to 9:00 a.m., check-In is free to kids ages 2 to 15 years old. Derby participants should be off the river no later than 2:45 p.m., and in line at check-in by 3:00 p.m., to qualify for prizes! 5:30 to 88:30 a.m. Free Breakfast for all kids, adults $2.00. Enjoy donuts, fruit, hot Chocolate, juice, and coffee. 10:30 to 1:00 p.m., free lunch for all kids, adults $2.00. Hot dogs, chips, and soft drinks.

Eagle Lake Nature Program at Merrill Campground Amphitheater: Birdwalk with Dr. Lew Oring from 9:30 – 12:00 p.m. Join Dr. Lew Oring at the jetty at the Eagle Lake Marina for a bird walk/talk. Bring binoculars if you have them!

Lassen Co. Farm Bureau presents their 9th Annual Blues & Brews Festival Blues & Brews Festival will from 5:00 – 11:00 p.m., at Every Bloomin’ Thing, 705-670 US-395, Susanville, CA Dinner from is from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 pre-sale or $45 at the door, under 21 is $15. Tickets can be purchased from Every Bloomin’ Thing Susanville and Chester. For more information please contact Naomi Turner at 530-257-7242. Parking lot open, bring chairs.

Eagle Lake Nature Program at Merrill Campground Amphitheater: Bob Woods, Eagle Lake Forest Fires 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. Come out to learn about the various fires in the Eagle Lake area—do you remember any?  County Road A1, Eagle Lake, South Shore. (in the event of rain, event will be postponed or canceled)
