Thank you Lassen County!-We have met our $15,000 matching funds requirement for the next phase of the America’s Best Communities Contest. A sincere thanks the community for the overwhelming support that has been shown to us as we attempt to compete to bring economic development and revitalization monies to our community. A special thanks to the following for contributing matching funds for the America’s Best Communities Contest; Historic Uptown Susanville, BEE Enterprises/Martin Balding, County Cleaners, Tony Suggs, Kiwanis Club of Susanville, Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel, Lassen Association of Realtors, Tonya Peddicord, Don Kirkpatrick, Melanie Westbrook, Soroptimist International of Susanville, Sunrise-Rotary Club of Susanville, City of Susanville, County of Lassen, Noreen Frieling, and Rotary Club of Susanville.
The $15,000 matching funds received, along with the $50,000 that were awarded to the Chamber as quarterfinalist in the Americas Best Communities Contest will be used to further our revitalization and economic development plans for our community. If successful in this next round we could be awarded another $100,000 and be eligible to compete for the final grand prize of $3,000,000 dollars.
To celebrate our success thus far in the America’s Best Communities Contest, a “Celebration Dinner” will be hosted by Frontier Communications on Wednesday, August 5th, at Lassen Ale Works, from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Invitations have been sent in the mail to all chamber members and those who contributed matching funds. The community is also welcomed to join in the celebration. Please join us in welcoming Jeanne Muttera and Sarah Garate who were elected to the board at the July board meeting. Jeanne Muttera is a registered dental hygienist at Susanville Dental Care. Sarah Garate works at Northeastern Rural Health Clinic as a Covered California Counselor, outreach, and navigation specialist. We are pleased to have them on board as the newest members of the board of directors.
