With a cast of more than 20 students singing, dancing, acting and working behind the scenes, the Lassen High Performing Arts Club will present Newsies the Musical in a series of performances over the Memorial Day weekend.
The show is a Broadway musical based on the Disney Movie Newsies. Set in 1899 New York City, the musical portrays the tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged ‘newsies.’
When the titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right.
Performances will be held May 25th at 12:30 and 6:30p.m., and May 27th at 6:30p.m., in the Lassen High Drama Room 715.
General admission tickets are $7 and seniors, children under 12 and ASB get in for $5.
