Susanville Matron To Be An Air-WAC
December 17, 1943

Mrs. Helen Robinson, member of the local telephone office staff, today received notification from the Reno recruiting office that she has passed both necessary physical and mental tests to become an Air WAC and is due for induction February 16.

On November 20 Mrs. Robinson accompanied her son, Kenneth E. Robinson, seventeen to Reno where he joined the navy. He is now stationed in Farragut, Idaho. On that trip, the Robinson car was overturned but in spite of the shake-up she received, Mrs. Robinson took her mental stress that day which she subsequently passed.

Mrs. Robinson was widowed two years ago when her husband was killed in an automobile accident.

Officer Middleton is not the only petty officer in her family. Her brother Petty Officer Robert Middleton has been in the service since June 1942 on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific.
