Snow Drifts Interfere with Travel in Lassen
February 19, 1923

A strong wind began blowing here Sunday evening and continued throughout the night and all day Monday, with the result that the snow was so badly drifted that travel was held up.

The Reno-Susanville stages failed to get through, the Doyle stage failed to make its regular daily trip and the high school student from the Standish section did not get to school Monday because of the deep snowdrifts and the hard wind which prevailed all day.

Train service was delayed several hours, the Susanville-Fernley train arriving in Susanville nearly five hours late.

Tuesday two stages bound for Reno left here with a crew of men and equipment to open up the drifts and break the road through to Reno. The snow is thawing fast.
