Police Arrest Two and Recover Stuck Stolen Vehicle

Two Susanville residents were arrested Saturday evening after police officers found them near a Johnstonville Road mobile home park desperately trying to free a stolen Kia Sorrento that had gotten stuck on a rock.

According to details released by the department, a resident from the area of Small Street in Susanville reported their 2020 White Kia Sorrento stolen from in front of their residence early Friday morning. A report was taken and information about the vehicle was sent to surrounding agencies.

Saturday evening, shortly before 8:00, officers received information from a concerned citizen about a vehicle that had gotten stuck on a rock near the Hidden Acres Mobile Home complex at 2965 Johnstonville Road.

“Officers arrived on scene and observed the vehicle which was the same reported stolen vehicle to our department the day before,” explains Susanville Police Chief Ryan Cochran.

The officers observed two subjects attempting to get the vehicle unstuck and began felony stop procedures on the pair. Both were taken into custody without incident.

Officers identified and arrested 21-year-old Quentin Daniel Navarette and 38-year-old Lupe Maria Aragon, both of Susanville, for vehicle theft.

They were transported to the Lassen County Jail for booking. The case has been forwarded to the Lassen County District Attorney for prosecution.

“The Susanville Police Department would like to thank our citizens for keeping a vigilant eye out for suspicious activity and for contacting us immediately so that we can take appropriate actions against those who prey upon our community and its citizens.”
