Ready to Water Those Lawns? Here’s an Update on City Water Regulations

waterrestrictionsAs warmer weather arrives and residents begin to water their lawns many have people have questions about current water regulations in the City of Susanville. According to Susanville’s Public Works Director Dan Newton, the city currently does not have any mandatory water conservation measures in place and there are no prohibited days of the week for outdoor irrigation.

“However,” Newton explains, “all Californian’s are still required to follow the state regulations outlined below.”

California Water Regulations:

  • Do not use potable water to wash sidewalks and driveways
  • Do not allow runoff when irrigating with potable water
  • Do not use hoses with no shutoff nozzles to wash vehicles
  • Do not use potable water in decorative water features that do not recirculate the water
  • Do not irrigate outdoors during and within 48 hours following measurable rainfall

If you have any questions or need addition information, please contact the City of Susanville Public Works Department at (530) 257-1041 or visit susanvillepublicworks.org.
