Folks in Lassen County’s prettiest little mountain town braved the wintry weather and chilly temperatures to take part in what has because an annual winter tradition – the Westwood Area Chamber of Commerce’s Chowder Cookoff held last Saturday, outside at the Westwood Visitor Center.
This year’s iteration of the event proved successful as always, with lots of chowder fans showing up, and several teams competing for the big cash prizes.
First place in the Judges’ Choice award went to the Chimney Fund, with Triple Chick Chowder in second and Hog Wild in third.
For the People’s Choice award first place went to the Chimney Fund, Birch Street Bay Chowder took second and Hog Wild placed third.
Westwood Firesafe Council won an award for Best Booth.
