On April 1st – 3rd the Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms will be sponsoring a local veteran, Hugh Jamison, and sending him to war memorials in Washington D.C. as part of Honor Flight Nevada.

Jamison, from Herlong, was a heavy equipment operator in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

The Blue Star Moms will give $1,000 of the money raised here in our community to send Jamison to Washington – the eighth local veteran to make the trip.

Blue Star Mother, Christine Boyd, will go as a Guardian on this Honor Flight. Guardians have to pay $1,000 out of their own pocket to assist our local veterans along the trip.

“The Blue Star Moms,” said Boyd, “would like to thank the great patriots of Susanville and the California Corrections Peace Officers Association for their donations.”

If you would like to make a donation to help send more Lassen County veterans on the Honor Flight, please send a check or money order to:

Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms
1205 Main Street
Susanville, CA 96130

Donations will earmark for local veterans to fly out on the Honor Flight Nevada.

The following veterans have gone on previous Honor Flights:

Zetta Clark (Susanville) Marines-WWII, Don McDonald (Lake Forest) Navy-WWII, Don Stampfli (Susanville) Army-Korean War, Marvin Houston (Milford) Merchant Marines-WWII, Ray Nadeau (Pine Town/Westwood) Navy-WWII, Glen Hail (Susanville) Navy-WWII, and Bill Knox (Susanville) Navy-Vietnam.
