Susanville Man Arrested for Courthouse Café Arson and Commercial Burglary

The Susanville Police Department released details today behind the arrest of a 26-year old Susanville resident following an investigation into a Sunday morning fire on Riverside Drive that did severe damage to several business, and a burglary at J&H Heating on Main Street.

The Susanville Police Department and the Susanville Fire Department responded to 2920 Riverside Drive for a report of a structure fire around 3:00a.m., Sunday.

The fire consumed several suites, which housed the Courthouse Café, two attorney’s offices, and the Sierra Central Credit Union. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire, but there was major fire damage to the entire complex. (Read more details in our early coverage of the fire.)

On the morning of July 3rd, according to Police, owners of J&H Heating on Main Street arrived at work to find that their business had been burglarized over the weekend.

Susanville Police Officers, along with Lassen County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, conducted a follow-up investigation of both the fire and burglary, which authorities say led to the arrest of Susanville resident Samuel Lima.

Lima was arrested for an outstanding warrant and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of Arson, Burglary and Attempted Burglary. He is currently being held on $77,500 bail.

The Susanville Police Department thanked the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
