The Susanville Symphony’s fantastic 2015-2016 season comes to a close this weekend with a series of fan-favorite performances featuring popular music from a variety of influences. The annual Pops Concert is always eagerly anticipated by both symphony fans and the musicians themselves.

This year the symphony will be performing a new arrangement by maestro Ben Wade based on several themes from the hit cable series Game of Thrones. Wade promises that the five-movement suite will transport you to the set of the HBO original.

In addition audience members can expect to hear vibrant and fun cinematic favorites from recent years – music from Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park and others. Featured will be the original John Williams Star Wars suite which includes the movie’s opening fanfare and the Imperial March from the Empire Strikes Back.

In the second half of the pops performance Ruth Lenz, Concert Master of the Reno Philharmonic, will be performing the Violin Concerto by Samuel Barber. It is a beautifully epic and wild piece of music that will show off her virtuosity as a soloist.

The Susanville Symphony’s Pops Concerts will be held Friday, May 20th at 7:00p.m. and Sunday May 22nd at 2:30p.m. at the Susanville Assembly of God Church, 473-465 Richmond Road.
