Lassen Community College Kinship Care Program free workshop Individualized Educational Plan. Understanding and Preparing for the IEP process presented by Anita Osborn. will be from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Lassen College, upstairs in the Creative Arts Building room #209. This workshop is designed to demystify the process of special education. Timelines, testing, eligibility, goals, and service options will be discussed—as well as your questions. Participants in this workshop will get information and resources to feel more empowered and prepared to work together as crucial members of the IEP team to address their child’s needs. Lassen Community College Kinship Care Program free workshop Ages and Stages of Child Development presented by Anita Osborn will be held from 9:00 – 12:00 in the Lassen College Boardroom. Anita Osborn is a Licensed Educational Psychologist with 30 years of experience in the field of children’s leaning and mental health. She will be discussing general principles of child development and the potential impact of adverse childhood experiences in order to provide appropriate care, nurturing support and responsive intervention. Lassen Community College Kinship Care Program free workshop Behavior Interventions presented by Anita Osborn will be held from 1:00 – 3:00p.m., at the Lassen College Boardroom. All children can exhibit behaviors that are difficult to handle at times; and children in foster care may have even more difficult challenges. This workshop will introduce participants to basic principles of what motivates behavior, what sustains behaviors, and what changes behavior. Lassen County Arts Council presents, Contemporary Tuesdays: Instruction for older developing artists. Concepts covered include color therapy, perspective, shape, form and design concepts. Instructor will include drawing with dry pastel, and painting will include use of oil pains and guache. Drop in sessions are $15 each Tuesday from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at 807 Cottage Street. Lassen Family Services Parenting Group Classes. Reduce the chaos and power struggles; learn an approach to parenting that is both simple and effective. “Positive Parenting with a Plan,” by Matthew A. Johnson, Psy. D., MSW, helps parents establish order and structure in the home, including rewards and positive consequences that work!  Designed as a 12-week program, group and individualized instruction is provided on an on-going basis. Group classes are held Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Lassen County Child and Family Resources, invites you to attend the Lassen Child Care Planning Council monthly members meeting from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Lassen County Office of Education, 472-013 Johnstonville Rd. Membership consists of approximately 10 active members including parents, consumers, child care providers, and community representatives. Through the process of ongoing collaboration, the members plan and coordinate child care and development services. Our Community needs your input and support! GOAL: Facilitate the delivery of quality, accessible child care services and facilities through collaboration, education, advocacy, and maximizing local, state, federal and private resources.

The Susanville Fire Department in cooperation with SEMSA and the Lassen County Health Department will be hosting a community CPR/First AID class. It is our mission to educate and support our community members as they come to those in need of CPR or First AID. The class will be held at the Susanville Fire Department, 1505 Main St. on Saturday September 21, 2019. The class starts at 8:00am and will last approximately 7 hours with a half hour lunch break. This course is intended for the general public and will not meet professional rescuer requirements. If you or anyone you know would like to learn this lifesaving skill or have any questions please call the Susanville Fire Department at 530-257-5152. The class size is limited to 30 people, cost $17.00.
