The spotlight shines on tomatoes tomorrow, with more than 30 varieties of Heirloom organic tomatoes available for sampling at the Tomato Festival and Purses for Pets fundraiser.
Festival attendees will be treated to a free tomato tasting, gourmet cooking classes, wine tasting and live music from Luther Red.
Along with the cooking classes you can also learn wine and tomato pairing and how to can your own tomatoes.
Help support our local humane society’s spay and neuter program and bid on chic ladies handbags at the ‘Purses for Pets’ silent auction.
Experts from Treats Pet Company will join the Humane Society at the festival to answer your pet related questions.
Bring your biggest tomato between 2:00 and 5:00 and get a chance to win a $50 gift card or a 25 lb. bag of Dr Earth Tomato Vegetable Fertilizer. Your tomato will be weighed and registered then you can take them home or donate them to the tomato tasting.
What Tomato Festival would be complete without a sip of wine with your bruschetta? You can taste several varietals donated by our local businesses. Award winning winery LaRocca Vineyards, with over 28 years of mastering organic wines, will be showcasing their new releases.
The Tomato Festival starts at 2:00 Saturday afternoon and runs until 6:00p.m. at Every Bloomin’ Thing nursery, 705-670 Hwy 395 E. For more information call 251-2330.
