Cammo Miller is a larger than life human being. And no, I’m not referencing his size, I’m referencing his one in a million personality! He has a playful nature, yet somehow is still able to pull of that whole ‘I get stuff done, don’t mess with me’ persona.
I met Cammo while he served as one of our very own Lassen County Sheriff’s. He was also a pleasure to work with, and law enforcement seemed to fit him well.
He has an innate ability to deescalate situations and speak with people. To be fair, most sane people would take one look at Cammo and immediately deescalate themselves, however his personality made him very amenable to speaking with people… his size kind of just sealed the deal.
Well our very own Cammo has started his own business, right smack-dab on our very own Main Street, and he has proven that he is also a great and gifted business owner and instructor.
Maverick Jiu Jitsu, guided by Cammo, is more than just a martial arts gym. Here, Cammo Miller pours his heart into teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, sharing a sport that’s all about personal growth and resilience.
It’s a spot where his students come to get stronger, make friends, and learn from a leader who genuinely cares about their progress and well-being.
Maverick Jiu Jitsu isn’t just about learning to defend yourself; it’s about joining a family that values hard work, respect, and helping each other out. That’s why this place has quickly become a beloved part of the lives of its students.
Cammo embodies the spirit of dedication – not just to his craft but to the community he serves. His efforts to give back are evident in every class he teaches, but also to his commitment to community service is a family affair. His wife, Jessica, is equally invested in the town’s well-being through her own venture, Susanville Supermarket, further cementing their family’s legacy of local entrepreneurship and support.
Together, they form a formidable team, demonstrating through action the values of hard work, family and community. Cammo’s roles as a dad, husband and coach are intertwined, each aspect of his life fueling his passion to make a positive impact in the lives of those around him.
Through Maverick Jiu Jitsu, he not only teaches martial arts but also imparts lessons on life, resilience and the importance of community.
