Be a Blood Hero: Lassen College Hosting Blood Drive Wednesday from 9:00 to 2:00

Vitalant needs your blood donation as we prepare for the holiday season. Type-O blood, which is the most transfused blood type, and is vital to helping patients in emergencies, has plummeted to under a two-day supply – its lowest level since May 2020.

Scheduling and keeping donation appointments are both critical to meeting patient needs. Lassen Community College is urging all eligible donors to make an appointment now. They have 25-appointments to fill.

Donate blood before the holidays and know that you made a difference in someone’s life. Every three seconds, someone in the United States needs blood and more donors are needed daily for trauma, surgery and cancer patients in our community. The blood you donate today can help save up to two lives. Since blood can’t be manufactured, we rely completely on volunteer blood donors.

Natural disasters like wildfire and hurricanes often force Vitalant to cancel blood drives in affected areas. It’s important for donors to give regularly to maintain an adequate supply at all times.

The blood drive will be held November 10th, from 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. in the cafeteria on the college’s Highway 139 campus.
