A 69-year old Aptos, California, resident succumbed to injuries while being flown to Enloe Hospital for treatment of injuries received in a Monday afternoon traffic collision at the intersection of County Road A13 and State Route 36 near Lake Almanor.
The Aptos man, identified by the California Highway Patrol as Gary Hazleton, was driving a 2010 GMC Yukon northbound on County Road A13 and failed to stop for the posted stop sign.
The Yukon entered the intersection and collided with a 2007 Jeep Liberty driven by a 21 year-old Chester resident who was traveling eastbound on SR-36.
Hazelton was flown by SEMSA Air to Enloe Hospital for treatment of major injuries and died while en route.
The driver of the 2007 Jeep Liberty received minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.
