Fay Laverne Roberts passed away on October 18, 2023 in Susanville. He was born in Milford, CA May 10, 1932 to Fay Roberts and Velva Bass Roberts. As youngster he spent summers helping his grandfather, Charlie Roberts , on his ranch near Milford. When his father was discharged from the Army Air Force after WW II he started a contracting business in the Honey Lake Valley and Fay began working for him. When Fay Sr died in 1963, Fay Jr continued to operate the business for many years.
In 1949 Fay and his sweetheart, Gerry Reuck, eloped to Reno at age 17. On August 28 this year they celebrated their 74th anniversary. 4 children were born to them, Leland (Cindy) and Galen (Linda) of Susanville, Darla Base (Jerry) of Menifee, CA and Leslie who proceeded him in death in 2011.
Fay loved being a Grandpa (Pop) he had 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. As a ‘young man’ and clear into his late 60’s with 2 knee replacements he never missed deer hunting or fishing season. This was especially true in the days before having to draw a tag on Skedaddle. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Internment will be at Janesville Cemetery, Memorial service will be at a later date.
