A total of five people were arrested today after the Susanville Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force served two search warrants simultaneously within the city limits.
On December 16th, according to Susanville Police Chief Jim Uptegrove, the police department in collaboration with the FBI task force and assisted by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, the California Department of Corrections and the Bureau of Land Management served search warrants in both the 300 block of Hall Street and 400 block of Alexander Avenue.
The search warrants were served as part of an ongoing investigation, and in an effort to combat illegal drug sales within the Susanville area. During the service of these search warrants several ounces of methamphetamine were recovered along with evidence of illegal drugs sales. Multiple people were detained and several were arrested.
Police arrested a 61 year-old Susanville resident identified as Karen Takerian at her residence on Alexander Avenue after officers located approximately two ounces of methamphetamine and evidence of drug sales. She was booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession for sales.
52-year old Mark Hafner was also arrested at the Alexander Avenue residence when he tried to interfere with the officers. He was placed under arrest and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of driving while under the influence of drugs and 2 counts of battery on a peace officer causing injury.
Three other subjects were arrested at the Hall Street address on outstanding warrants; 39-year old Michael Brady, 59-year old John Brady and 35-year old Ivan Desantos, were also placed under arrest and transported to the Lassen County Jail for outstanding warrants.
