Full Moon BLM Snowshoe Walk Planned for February 25th

A full moon will light the way on a free, guided snowshoe walk, Monday, February 25th, near Hog Flat Reservoir, off Highway 44 west of Susanville.

Cross country skiers are welcome and the walk will last no more than an hour and a half. It covers level terrain, and is an easy outing ideal for families.

Participants must register by contacting the Lassen National Forest Eagle Lake Ranger District, (530) 257-4188. Snowshoes will be provided.

Participants will meet at 6:00p.m. at the Junction of Goumaz Road and Highway 44, about 6 miles west of the junction of highways 36 and 44. The parking area will be marked.

“It is important to register because we might change the hike to an area closer to Susanville if we receive new snow,” said event organizer Jill Poulsen of the BLM.

The outing is the first of three planned snowshoe walks. Additional outings are planned for Wednesday, March 6th, and Wednesday, March 20th. Both walks are at 3:30 p.m. at locations to be announced.

Community and school groups are welcome to participate. They should the Eagle Lake Ranger District to make arrangements.
