Impact Your Community By Becoming a Crisis Intervention Peer Counselor

0

Have you ever wanted to make a difference in the lives of others, helping them find hope and healing following a traumatic event? You can be a positive force in your community by becoming a Crisis Intervention Peer Counselor.

You can learn the skills to become a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor and Crisis Line volunteer certified according to California Evidence Codes 1035 and 1037 providing crisis intervention to victims of crime in a free class put on By Lassen Family Services. The class is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in volunteering for Lassen County’s only local crisis hotline.

Or perhaps you are just interested in how to help a friend, family member or co-worker in crisis.

During the course you will learn how to relate to someone who is in crisis, and how to make local referrals to the agencies that can help them. There is in-depth discussion about domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and child abuse issues and how you can be a part of the change that needs to take place to keep the community safe for our future generations.

Classes in the two-week course will be held March 9th through the 13th and March 16th through the 20th from 8:00a.m. until 5:00p.m. at 1306 Riverside Drive, in Susanville.
